More recently, Galebreaker has specialised in making Wind Shield solutions for the LNG, GTL and Petrochemical industry. In these markets, Galebreaker Wind Shields are specifically designed to enable Liquefaction plants to be more efficient at compressing gas. Strong winds create many challenges for large air-cooler banks (Condenser Trains) and Hot Air Re-Circulation (HAR) and Hot Air Migration (HAM) are common problems causing a loss of refrigerant air cooling, often forcing the Liquefaction plant to either operate at lower production, or worse case scenario, cause trips, leading to many days of production loss. High winds can also cause vibrations and fatigue, belt failures, bearing failures, fan blade failures, etc. and this is where Galebreaker can help improve performance. All our products are lightweight, strong, easy to install, and fit to your existing structure with no welding or drilling required.

Hot Air Migration

Hot air (approx. 75C) is picked up by the wind and blown into adjacent condenser trains.

Hot Air Re-Circulation

Hot air (approx. 75C) gets re-circulated back into its own condenser train.

CFD Modelling

This customised service models the effect of wind on your condenser trains, specifically hot air recirculation and hot air migration. By quantifying the performance deficiencies caused by the wind we can measure how much clawback could be achieved with the installation of a patented Galebreaker Wind Shield solution. The modelling takes into account the positioning of buildings and structures around the plant and provides the optimum Galebreaker Wind Shield configuration for your site.
