Animal welfare specialist appointed to enhance Galebreaker’s service

In its drive to improve livestock health, Galebreaker has appointed Chloe Rodriguez as an Animal Welfare Specialist, reinforcing the company’s commitment to enhancing housing solutions.

Chloe, a bioveterinary science graduate from Harper Adams University, returns to Galebreaker after completing a year-long scholarship placement with the company.

Enhancing livestock welfare through expertise and innovation

Chloe’s appointment is a strategic move by Galebreaker to strengthen its focus on animal welfare within housed environments.

Having already contributed to the company’s research and advisory services, Chloe brings a fresh perspective backed by academic rigor and practical experience. Her passion for animal health, cultivated through her scholarship placement, ideally positions her to make an impact in her new role.

Tailored solutions for farm buildings

One of Chloe’s primary objectives will be to showcase how tailored improvements to farm buildings can improve animal performance, livestock productivity, and animal health.

Her role involves working closely with farm customers, ensuring that the solutions provided by Galebreaker not only meet immediate housing needs but also enhance the overall welfare of the livestock.

“I’m really looking forward to engaging with farmers, vets, and on-farm consultants to enhance understanding of the critical implications of housing environments on animal health and welfare. My experiences during my placement year really cemented my desire to enhance animal health and I hope to make a long-term contribution to the agricultural industry in my new role,” says Chloe.

A commitment to new talent

Galebreaker’s student scholarship programme exemplifies the company’s investment in nurturing young talent.

The ongoing scholarship initiative run in partnership with Harper Adams University, which has been running since 2021, continues to open doors for second year BSc and first year FdSc students studying livestock-related degrees. The scholarship offers a year-long role as a ventilation and animal welfare analyst.

Galebreaker’s technical director, Andrew Gardner, says the student placement programme has proven to be an excellent pathway for developing young talent.

“We are excited to continue supporting the next generation of industry leaders through our scholarship initiative. During her previous time with us Chloe developed excellent consultancy skills and as she re-joins the business will work closely with our farm customers,” says Andrew.
