Protecting farm feed at Upper Court Farm

Home > Agriculture > Case Studies > Upper Court Farm

Upper Court Farm is a mixed arable farm near Hay-on-Wye.

The Challenge

Alongside the commercial suckler herd and finishing enterprises, the Davies family operate UC Feeds – where they grow, process and supply a variety of high quality, fully traceable animal feed to local farmers.

UC Feeds needed to protect its feed grain from vermin, birds and adverse weather conditions, whilst still allowing regular easy access as and when required; meeting and exceeding todays stringent crop and feed assurance standards. The grain store required regular access as well as protection from unwanted pests, to ensure compliance and achieve ‘assured grain’ standards”.

The Solution

The AF Group and Galebreaker Sales Team were consulted on the best solution for our grain stores. Galebreaker’s manual Agridoor was chosen for its value for money.  We selected Galebreaker’s industry renowned mesh material to provide ventilation whilst protecting from the weather. In total 9 Agridoors were fitted, which complemented the existing Rollerscreens previously fitted on the calving shed.

The Result

The great value and quality of the Galebreaker Agridoors have been of significant benefit to Upper Court Farm. They have prevented birds and rodents from gaining access to the grain and feed, guaranteeing compliance for farm assurance and UFAS Schemes.

The Galebreaker Rollerscreens that were installed at a different time on the calving shed have continued to protect and shelter suckler cows, they offer great flexibility when there is a change in weather conditions.

Galebreaker products have delivered a cost effective solution for our businesses, and the team were very helpful when ordering. We would recommend them.”
